Agnes E. Wentzell

Agnes E. Higgins Wentzell, 91, of 265 Main St., formerly of Truro, Nova Scotia, died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Truro on April 23, 1910, daughter of Thomas H.L. and Johanna A. Hurley Higgins, she attended schools there.
Mrs. Wentzell was employed as a newspaper proofreader in Nova Scotia and was a turret lathe operator in Canada during World War II. She moved to Cambridge in 1948, where she worked as a book binder for the former Holliston Mills Binding, retiring in 1960. She returned to Nova Scotia in 1991 and moved to Pittsfield in 1998.
She enjoyed spending time with her family here and in Nova Scotia.
Her husband, Frederick A. Wentzell, whom she married in 1948, died in 1989.
She leaves a daughter, Beverly Vrooman of Pittsfield; a brother, Thomas Higgins of Halifax, Nova Scotia; a sister, Margaret Lorraine of Truro, and three grandchildren. Mrs. Wentzell is predeceased by her stepdaughter, Marian Taylor; her two brothers, Robert Higgins and J. "Fulmore" Higgins, and her sister, Violet Smith.
There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. William D. Furey, pastor of Berkshire Union Chapel, officiating. Burial will take place next week in Truro, Nova Scotia.
