PITTSFIELD -- Yvonne E. Hamel, 95, formerly of Willimansett section of Chicopee, died yesterday at a nursing home in Chicopee. She was the mother of Robert G. Hamel of Pittsfield.
Born in Chicopee, she was the daughter of Maxime and Aurore Savoie Levreault, she attended schools there.
She was a communicant of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. An organist and piano player, she volunteered for more than 20 years with the Goldtones, a senior citizen musical group that entertained through the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
Her husband of 65 years, Roland A. Hamel, died in July 2000.
Besides her son, she leaves a sister, Aline Muto of Springfield. She was predeceased by a son, Rodney R. Hamel, who died in December 2000.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral will be Thursday at 9 a.m. from the ARTHUR J. BRUNELLE FUNERAL HOME, 811 Chicopee St., with a Mass in Nativity Church, both in the Willimansett section, at 10 a.m. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Donations may be made to the church building fund, at 780 Chicopee St., Chicopee, MA 01013.
