PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Mrs. Domenica A. "Mecca" Boison, 88, formerly of 72 Parkside Ave., died Saturday, November 19, 2016, at Melbourne Place.
She was born in North Canaan, Conn., on September 12, 1928, a daughter of the late Alexander and Adele (Leonardi) Rigodanzo. Following the death of her mother, she was adopted by the late Peter and Paulina (Fruet) Fruet. She lived in Richmond for 19 years and attended schools there and then in 1949 moved to Pittsfield. She was employed at the former All Souls Church as the caretaker for many years and was also employed at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Home for Funerals for several years.
Mecca enjoyed spending time with her family and visiting relatives in Italy. She also enjoyed fishing, baking, knitting, crocheting, gardening and was a Boston Red Sox fan. She was a longtime communicant of the former All Souls Church and member of the All Souls Church Ladies Society and was presently a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
Her husband, Joseph J. Boison died on September 22, 1996; they were married on June 25, 1949.
Survivors include her two sons, David A. Boison and his wife Elizabeth of Camden, S.C., and Paul J. Boison and his wife Mary of Rocky Hill, Conn.; one daughter, Adele P. Boison and her husband Gus Caffrey of Idaho Falls, Idaho; seven grandchildren, Sarah, John, Daniel, Alex and Mollie Boison and Anna and David Caffrey; one great-grandchild, Henry Collins; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was predeceased by her five brothers, Oswaldo Rigodanzo, Oreste "Rusty" Rigodanzo, Adolfo Fruet, Vinicio "Vinnie" Fruet and Ezio Fruet.
Funeral Notice: Services will take place Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at 9 a.m. from the Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Home for Funerals, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, Mass. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 196 Elm St., Pittsfield, with the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker C.S.S. officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, November 22, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
