Joseph W. Harrington Jr., 27

RICHMOND, Mass. — Joseph W. Harrington Jr., 27, of 1640 Worcester Road in Framingham, Mass., passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 10, 2016, at home after suffering from apparent heart failure.



A Richmond native, he had resided in Framingham for the past three years. Born in Pittsfield on May 28, 1989, he is the son of Joseph W. Harrington Sr. and Jacqueline Cancilla Harrington of Gt. Barrington. Joe was educated in Richmond schools and was a 2007 graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School. He then went on to receive his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Westfield University in 2011. He was presently attending the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy Physician Assistant Program and would have graduated this coming December. Joe was also working at Tufts Medical School doing his clinical rotations.



A licensed CNA, he had worked at Berkshire Place from 2012 to 2013. He had also done landscaping with his aunt and uncle at Hillman Caretaking LLC and also did landscaping with his aunt and uncle, Bill and Sue Harrington. An avid runner, he enjoyed running in local races. He also enjoyed cooking, hiking, kayaking and music. He was a lover of animals and also enjoyed being a comedian.



He leaves his parents, Joseph W. Harrington Sr. and Jacqueline Cancilla Harrington of Gt. Barrington; his sister, Stephanie M. Carmel and her husband David of Pittsfield; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Patricia Norton Cancilla of Pittsfield; his paternal grandparents, Burton and Mary North Harrington of Richmond; his partner, Kyle Urquhart of Framingham; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.



Funeral notice: Funeral services for Joseph W. Harrington Jr., 27, who passed away on November 10, 2016, will be held Thursday, November 17, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Richmond Congregational Church conducted by the Rev. Janet McKinstry, pastor. Burial will follow in Richmond Center Cemetery.



Calling hours for Joe will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Memorial donations in memory of Joe may be made to The Salvation Army for its Food Pantry in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
