Antonia "Nina" Ferrarin, 101

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Mrs. Antonia "Nina" Ferrarin, 101, a former Pittsfield, Mass., and Southfield, Mass., resident, died Monday, October 31, 2016, at the Timberlyn East Nursing & Rehabilitation in Great Barrington, Mass.
Antonia was born in Pittsfield, Mass., on July 3, 1915, a daughter of the late Domenico and Florinda (Menin) Cristofari. Antonia returned to Italy as a child and attended schools in Italy and moved back to the United States and Pittsfield in 1938 and was primarily a homemaker. Antonia enjoyed knitting, sewing, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family.
Antonia was the widow of Americo L. Ferrarin, who died February 9, 1995; they were married on July 4, 1940. While living in Pittsfield she was a former communicant of All Soul's Church and a former communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Church in Sheffield, Mass.
Survivors include one son, Erminio G. Ferrarin of Pittsfield, Mass.; daughters Florinda A. Peck of Springfield, Mass., and Maria Saunders and her husband Ronald of Southfield, Mass., with whom she made her home before entering the Nursing Home; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Antonia was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Jessie Ferrarin, who died on October 12, 2016; a sister, Maria Tornicelli; and a brother, Charles Cristofari.
Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Antonia "Nina" Ferrarin will be celebrated Friday, November 4, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 196 Elm St., Pittsfield. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling Hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Home for Funerals, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, will be Friday, November 4, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
