Anthony J. Carmona Sr., 81

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Anthony J. Carmona Sr., 81, of 40 Somerset Ave. in Pittsfield, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2016, at Craneville Place of Dalton.



Born on June 14, 1935, in Pittsfield, he was the son of the late Antonio and Mary Placido Carmona. A lifelong Pittsfield resident, he was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1953 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He then went on to graduate from Berkshire Business College.



Mr. Carmona was employed for twenty-five years at General Electric later to become General Dynamics. He had also worked after high school at the former Union Federal Bank. He retired on February 1, 1997.



A communicant of St. Charles Church, he was a member of the G.E.A.A. and Skyline Country Club, where he enjoyed playing golf. He was also a member of the Italian-American Club. He enjoyed tennis and watching golf and sports on television.



He leaves his wife, Joan Watson Carmona of Pittsfield, whom he married on January 25, 1958 at the former St. Mary the Morning Star Church; two sons, Anthony J. Carmona Jr. and his wife Kim of Revere, Mass., and Michael W. Carmona and his wife Michele of Pittsfield; a daughter, Jodi C. Dutchyshyn and her husband Tom of Cheshire, Conn.; two sisters, Manuela Supranowicz and her husband Leon of Pittsfield and Generosa Murray of Pittsfield; and three granddaughters, Meghan and Liney Dutchyshyn and Brianna Carmona.



He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Delmolino; and by two brothers-in-law, Jack Murray and Everett Delmolino.



Funeral notice: Funeral services for Anthony J. Carmona Sr., 81, of Pittsfield who passed away October 7, 2016, will be held Tuesday, October 11, at 11:30 a.m. from the Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at noon at St. Charles Church concelebrated by the Rev. Peter Gregory, pasto,r and by his nephew, the Rev. Joseph O'Brien, pastor of Church of the Holy Spirit in East Greenbush, N.Y.



Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Memorial donations in memory of Mr. Carmona may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
