Marion T. Carmel, 82

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Marion T. Carmel, 82, formerly of North Adams and Pittsfield, passed away on August 22, 2106, at Springside of Pittsfield, where she had resided since June of 2015.



Born in North Adams on December 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Lillian Gleba Forbush and step-daughter of the late Everett Forbush. A longtime Pittsfield resident, she was educated in North Adams schools and was a graduate of Drury High School. She was employed at one time as an assembler at the former Sprague Electric and had also done factory work here in the Berkshires. She retired in 1998.



She was a communicant of the former Holy Family Church and a member of the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center. She enjoyed needlepoint, baking, sewing, bird watching and taking Tai Chi classes. Her favorite thing was feeding and watching her hummingbirds.



She leaves five daughters, Linda Robertson and her husband John of Pittsfield, Karen Carmel and her companion Andre Ledoux of Pittsfield, Debra Carmel and her fiance Timothy Amuso of Pittsfield, Barbara Devine and her husband Stephen of Denver, Pa., and Amy Munn and her husband Bill of Becket; a son, Michael Carmel and his fiance Janice Northrup of Pittsfield; a brother, Paul Forbush and his wife Vicki of North Adams; a sister, Irene Fletcher of Apollo Beach, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, John Robertson Jr., Alison Dietsch, Lisa Gallant, Brian Robertson, Kelly Robertson, Katie Robertson, David Carmel, Jessica Duprat, Nicholas Amuso and Joshua Honniker; eight great-grandchildren; and two nieces and two nephews.



She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Bruce Fletcher; and by her former husband; Kenneth Carmel.



Funeral notice: Funeral services for Marion T. Carmel, who passed away August 22, 2016, will be held Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at 10 a.m. at the Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.



There are no calling hours. Memorial donations in memory of Marion may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
