PITTSFIELD -- Peter J. Quaglietti, 91, of 6105 SW 19th St., Miramar, Fla., formerly of Peck's Road, Pittsfield, died Sept. 6 at Memorial Hospital in Pembroke Pines, Fla.
Born in Pescara, Italy, on Oct. 30, 1909, son of Melfino and Palma Cacciagrano Quaglietti, he graduated from Pittsfield High School. He moved to Florida in 1975.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served from 1942 to 1945.
Mr. Quaglietti was employed in automobile repair, then by the state Department of Public Works and later as a millwright for General Electric Co. before opening Peter's Lawnmower Service in 1955. He operated the service until retiring in 1975.
A communicant of St. Stephen's Church in Miramar, he was a longtime member of Disabled American Veterans.
His first wife, the former Mary Casey, whom he married in 1936, died in 1951.
He and his wife, the former Carolyn Meloveck, celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary Aug. 2.
Besides his wife, he leaves three brothers, Melfino Quaglietti Jr. of Ludlow, and Rocco Quaglietti and Carlo Quaglietti, both of Pittsfield, and two sisters, Mary Goodrich and Lucy Montini, both of Pittsfield. He also leaves several nieces and nephews in Pittsfield and in Rome and Pescara, Italy. He was predeceased by a brother, Alex Quaglietti, and a sister, Carmelina DiNicola.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Private services for Peter J. Quaglietti were held at AARON CREMATION AND BURIAL SERVICES in Miramar, Fla., with the Rev. Anthony Civello officiating. Cremation followed.
