PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Irene Helen Penney of 112 High St., Pittsfield, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.



Born December 17, 1930, in Great Barrington, Mass., the daughter of the late Edmond B. Bourguard and Rose Mary Meyer, she resided in Housatonic, Mass., with her first husband, John R. Wool, who passed away on February 2, 1966. She married John C. Penney on July 19, 1975; he passed away August 10, 1989.



She leaves three sons and five grandchildren: Richard Wool, his wife Pat and their two children, John R. and Juliann Wool of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; a son David Wool and his wife Marie and their three sons, John D., Eric and Nathan Wool of Dudley, Mass.; and Timothy Wool of Pittsfield; a sister, Mary B. Bredin of Pittsfield; a brother, Leon Bourguard and his wife Londa of Lenox, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Helen Delmolino of Largo, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and her great friend Eleanor Ambrose of Pittsfield.



She was predeceased by two brothers, Edmund Bourguard Jr. and Francis Bourguard.



Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Irene H. Penney of Pittsfield, who passed away August 7, 2016, will be held Thursday, August 11, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Pittsfield celebrated by Rev. Michael F. Bernier, Administrator. Burial will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery in Housatonic.



Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 830 to 10:30 a.m. at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield. Memorial donations in memory of Irene may be made to The Sacred Heart Church Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
