DALTON -- Richard John Sawicki, 57, of Springfield died yesterday morning at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. His wife of 32 years, the former Theresa E. Cachat, is a former resident of Dalton.
Born in Springfield on Nov. 26, 1943, son of Lena M. Adamczyk Sawicki of Springfield and the late John O. Sawicki, he attended Springfield schools and graduated from the former Classical High School in 1961. He also graduated from the Hallmark Institute of Photography in Turners Falls.
He served with the Massachusetts Army National Guard from 1964 to 1970.
Mr. Sawicki specialized in photo restoration, portraits, weddings and scenic pictures. He had been employed by Daniel's School of Pictures, a division of Grenier's Photography in Springfield. He also was employed by various electricians in the Springfield area.
He leaves his mother and his wife.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Richard J. Sawicki will be Monday at 8:15 a.m. from SAMPSON'S CHAPEL OF THE ACRES, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in Sacred Heart Church, with burial in St. Michael's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. only. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Pittsfield chapter of Relay for Life in care of the Cachat Family Team, 788 South St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
