DALTON, Mass. — Richard J. Contois, 65, of 600 Main St. died Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Craneville Place of Dalton.
Born on October 18, 1950, in North Adams, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Carmen Leduc Contois. A longtime Dalton resident, he was educated in North Adams schools and was a 1969 graduate of McCann Vocational Technical School in North Adams.
An assembler, he was employed for 20 years at the former Schaefer-Eaton Paper Company. He had also worked in the automotive department at the K-Mart in Great Barrington. He retired in 1988.
He enjoyed crafts, carpentry, woodworking and puzzles.
He leaves two daughters, Regina M. Marquis of Lanesborough and Kristina L. Contois of Pittsfield; two brothers, Jack Contois of Adams and Andy Contois of Tampa, Fla.; two sisters, Susan Contois and Louise Contois of Averill Park, N.Y.; two granddaughters, Amber Contois and her fiancé Christopher Penaherrera of Pittsfield and Lexus Marquis of Pittsfield; a niece, Heather Contois of Averill Park, N.Y.; a great-niece, Nevaeh Contois of Averill Park, N.Y.; and other nieces and nephews.
Funeral notice: At his request, services for Richard J. Contois, who died June 7, 2016, will be private. There are no calling hours.
