Jane Palmer, 90

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Jane Granfield Palmer, 90, died Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at home after a lengthy illness.
She graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1944 and in 1949 married James I. Palmer, who predeceased her in 1976 at the age of 50. In 1950, she was a victim of the polio epidemic. After a rehabilitation stay at Warm Springs, Ga., she returned home a survivor.
She was employed by New England Telephone as an operator for 15 years. She followed that by working for 18 years at Sheaffer Eaton as their receptionist until its closing. She continued her career at Canyon Ranch of the Berkshires for 18 years, where she was fondly known as "The Voice of Canyon Ranch," retiring at the age of 81.
She leaves five children, Deborah Gebhardt, Mary-Jane Marinakis, James I. Palmer, William M. Palmer and John G. Palmer; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral notice: A private memorial service will be held. Arrangements are entrusted to Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Funeral Home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield.
