Mary B. Fontana, 74

DALTON, Mass. — Mrs. Mary B. Fontana, 74, formerly of 125 River Birch Lane, died Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Springside Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center.



She was born in Pittsfield on December 14, 1941, a daughter of the late Edmund T. and Mary (McCarty) Bercury. She attended Pittsfield Schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1959 and then attended the College of St. Rose, Albany N.Y.  



Mary was employed by the General Electric Co., Ordnance Division, for 30 years and retired in 1991. She was a member of the General Electric Quarter Century and Pensioners Clubs and was a communicant of St. Agnes Church. Mary enjoyed wintering in Florida.



She was the widow of Emil J. Fontana, who died on January 14, 2013; they were married on December 2, 1967.



Survivors include her brother, Charles A. Bercury of Pittsfield; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and her sisters-in-law, Claire I. Bercury, Rita Fontana and Donna L. Bercury.



She was predeceased by her brother, Edmund T. Bercury Jr.; and her sister, Barbara B. Quinlan.



Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mary B. Fontana will be held Saturday, June 4, 2016, at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, 489 Main St., Dalton, celebrated by the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, Pastor. Entombment will take place in St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum in St. Joseph's Cemetery at the convenience of the family.



Calling Hours will be Saturday, June 4, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Funeral Home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Athenaeum in care of the funeral home.
