LENOX, Mass. — Rita M. Minafra, 87, of 329 Pittsfield Road, Devonshire Estates, and formerly of 96 Broadview Terrace, Pittsfield, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, at Laurel Lake Center.

Born in Pittsfield on March 18, 1928, a daughter of Samuel and Sadie Ackley Scullary, she attended Pittsfield schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1945 and then attended Berkshire Business College in Pittsfield.

Mrs. Minafra was last employed at the former House of Carpets as vice president, retiring in 1988. She first worked in the advertising department of The Berkshire Eagle for several years and for a short time in the Naval Ordnance Division of General Electric Co. in the payroll department.

She was a former communicant of St. Mary the Morning Star Parish in Pittsfield and was a former member of the Sons of Italy Itam Lodge 564 and the Women's Club of Pittsfield. She enjoyed playing bingo, cooking and gardening.

Her husband, Louis F. Minafra, whom she married on May 5, 1951, died on April 7, 2005.

She leaves her brother, S. Rocco Scullary and his wife, Marie, of Pittsfield; a grandson, Timothy M. Bradford of Denver; two great-grandchildren, Celeste and Summer Bradford, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Donna M. Rossi, on Feb. 7, 2002, of leukemia; her brother, Judge James J. Scullary and her sister, Concetta M. Sheppard.
