Mollie E. Doherty, 95, of 329 Pittsfield Road died Monday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility.
Born in Hyannis on July 9, 1906, daughter of David Henry and Mary Saint Sears, she attended Salem Teachers College. She moved to West Stockbridge in 1935 where she resided for 12 years. She then moved to Richmond for 20 years and then in 1974 to Pittsfield, where she had resided for 20 years. She had resided at Devonshire Estates for the past four years.
Mrs. Doherty was a special education teacher in the Pepperell school district and had substituted at Pittsfield schools.
She was a communicant of St. Teresa's Church.
Her husband, Charles E. Doherty, superintendent of the Berkshire Hills School Union for 35 years, whom she married Aug. 25, 1930, in Wellfleet, died July 15, 1974.
She leaves three sons, Myles J. Doherty of Washington, D.C., Peter S. Doherty of Southbury, Conn., and David P. Doherty of New York City; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 5, at 9:15 a.m. from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Teresa's Church, celebrated by the Rev. John J. Varley, pastor. Burial will follow in the Richmond Center Cemetery. Calling hours will be at the DWYER FUNERAL HOME Thursday, Oct. 4, from 4 to 6 p.m. If friends desire, donations may be made HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home in her memory.
