Frances Burke

Frances Elizabeth Burke, 95, formerly of 181 Elm St., died yesterday at Providence Care Center of Lenox, where she had resided since September 2000. She moved to Pittsfield in 1980 after residing in Lenox for 75 years.
Born in Lenox on Oct. 12, 1905, daughter of John and Katherine Lawton Kirby, she was a 1924 graduate of Lenox Memorial High School.
A homemaker, Mrs. Burke was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Pittsfield, and St. Ann's Church in Lenox. She enjoyed reading.
Her husband, Edward A. Burke, whom she married February 1928, died Nov. 15, 1981.
She leaves two daughters, Theresa F. Curley of Naples, Fla., and Mary K. Bastow of Pittsfield; eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three brothers, Edward, William and John Kirby, and three sisters, Margaret Eisele, Helen Teator and Catherine Bergstrom.
Services will be Friday with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Sacred Heart Church in Pittsfield, celebrated by the Rev. James L. Joyce, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery, Lenox. Calling hours at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, will be Thursday from 4 to 7. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in care of the Dery Funeral Home.
