Murray Lewis

Murray Lewis, 93, of Pine Hill at Kimball Farms, formerly of Devonshire Estates, died Saturday evening at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on July 7, 1908, son of Isidor and Lena Viadro Lewis, he attended New York schools.
Mr. Lewis was employed as a teacher in New York City public and private schools, retiring in 1973.
After his retirement, he moved to Santa Barbara, Calif., for five years, then to Tamarac, Fla., in 1978. He and his wife, the former Gertrude Weinstein, spent summers in Lenox before moving there permanently in 1998. Mr. Lewis ushered at Tanglewood for many years.
He and his wife celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary June 15.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Michael H. Lewis of Kerhonkson, N.Y., and Lenox, and Stephen G. Lewis of Goleta, Calif.; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the cancer unit at Berkshire Medical Center in care of the funeral home.
