Francis Mongeau

Francis Charles Mongeau, 85, of Columbus Avenue died Sunday afternoon at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Lanesboro on Feb. 12, 1916, son of Joseph C. and Amelia Beauvais Mongeau, he graduated from Pittsfield High School.
Mr. Mongeau was employed as a textile worker at the former Wyandotte-Worsted Mill and at A.H. Rice Co. He also did radio and television repair work for several schools in Berkshire County.
A mineralogist, he was a member of the Greylock Mineral Club. He enjoyed So-Ed dance classes.
His wife, the former Anna E. Martin, whom he married Feb. 23, 1935, died Aug. 25, 1970.
He leaves two sons, Francis E. Mongeau Jr. of Pittsfield and Kenneth E. Mongeau of Westerville, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, and his longtime companion, Betty Johnston of Pittsfield. A daughter, Cathy Ward, died in 1969.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Sept. 27, at 2 at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mongeau family in care of the funeral home.
