Dorothy Noble

Dorothy Robare Noble, 96, formerly of 175 Lakeway Drive, died Friday morning at Sweet Brook Care Center in Williamstown.
Born in North Adams on Aug. 9, 1905, daughter of Albert F. and Margaret Fogg Robare, she graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School, and from North Adams State College with bachelor of science degree in education.
She taught in Cheshire and North Adams and, for 23 years, was a kindergarten teacher at the former Briggs School, retiring in 1971.
She was a communicant of St. Mark's Church, where she taught CCD classes. She was a member of the Massachusetts Retired Teachers, the National Education, and the Berkshire County Retired Teachers associations and the Brittany Club. She enjoyed reading, writing, knitting, crocheting, hunting and turkey shoots.
Her husband, William F. Noble, died Aug. 18, 1987.
She leaves a son, William F. Noble Jr., of San Geronimo, Calif.; a daughter, Margaret Noble Palmer of Holliston; a sister, Mary T. Scrivens of North Adams; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday, Sept. 27, at 10:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Mark's Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 5 to 8. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, contributions may be made to Berkshire Medical Center cancer research in care of the funeral home. She was predeceased by three brothers and one sister.
