Doris Crown

Doris Crown, 86, of Elgin Drive, Winter Springs, Fla., a former resident of Pittsfield and Lanesboro, died yesterday at home from cancer.
Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 9, 1914, daughter of Frank and Francis Nieryzjweski Crown, she and her family owned the Crown Field (Inn) in Lanesboro.
She was employed as a librarian at the Berkshire Athenaeum and was the former owner of The Crazy Horse Gift Shop in Lenox. She moved to Winter Springs in 1993.
Miss Crown was an active member of First Scott Presbyterian Church in Charleston, S.C. She was the founder of the Silk Stocking Book Club in Charleston. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with friends.
She leaves a sister, Francis Stewart of Richmond, Va., and a brother, Ned Crown of Winter Springs.
Memorial services will be held at First Scott Presbyterian Church, with burial to be in Arizona. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the AD Anderson Cancer Clinic, Winter Park, FL 32789.
