John N. Callahan

John N. "Jack" Callahan, 67, of Stamford, Conn., a native of Dalton, died Tuesday at Courtland Gardens in Stamford.

Born in Dalton on Aug. 26, 1934, he was the son of John J. Callahan and Mary Nally Callahan. He had resided in Old Greenwich before moving to Stamford. He served in the Navy.

Mr. Callahan was a self-employed writer. He had been previously employed by General Electric Co. and United Press International.

He leaves his wife of 42 years, the former Mary Lee White; two daughters, Katie Callahan of San Francisco and Meghan Callahan of New Brunswick, N.J., and two sisters, Sister Marita Callahan, Sisters of Providence, of Holyoke, and Margaret Ducharme of West Springfield.

Funeral services will take place Friday, Sept. 21, at St. Clement Church at 11 a.m. Burial will be private. Friends may call at BOUTON & REYNOLDS FUNERAL HOME, 2900 Summer St., Stamford, Conn., on Thursday, Sept. 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. The family has requested memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, be made to The New York Times Sept. 11 Neediest Fund, P.O. Box 5193, General Post Office, New York, NY 10087.
