Douglas J. Stone

Douglas J. Stone, 54, of Dover, N.H., died Sept. 11. He was a passenger on American Airlines Flight 11, which crashed into the World Trade Center in New York. Mr. Stone leaves several siblings in Berkshire County.
Born in Beverly on Feb. 26, 1947, son of the late Richard S. Stone Sr. and Kathryn E. Lewis Stone, he was a 1965 graduate of Dover High School and a 1973 graduate of Long Beach State College in Long Beach, Calif., with a bachelor of science degree in accounting. Mr. Stone also attended Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles.
Mr. Stone served two years in the Army from 1969 to 1971, stationed mainly in Germany.
He lived in Southern California for 22 years and was employed by Trend Printing in the Los Angeles area in various production and finance positions and also owned his own business, Innovative Business Techniques.
Mr. Stone returned to New Hampshire in 1987 and was employed as comptroller at Capitol City Press in Montpelier, Vt. In 1989, he and Charles Parker of Durham established Odyssey Press in Dover and Mr. Stone was a co-owner at the time of his death.
He leaves his former wife, Beth Stone, and a son, Zachary, both of Fountain Valley, Calif.; a sister, Jane R. Puhn of Pittsfield; four brothers, Steven S. Stone of Lewiston, Maine, Robert Francis Stone of Lee, Albert E. Stone of Barrington, N.H., and Matthew R. Stone of Dalton.
A memorial service is scheduled for Oct. 20, 2001, in Dover, N.H., at 11 a.m. at Dover Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Stone's family requests donations be sent to The American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Mr. Stone was predeceased by a brother, Richard S. Stone Jr.
