Yo-Yo Ma, Emanuel Ax Perform at April Hill to Benefit Greenagers

SOUTH EGREMONT, Mass. — Yo-Yo Ma and Emmanual Ax return to April Hill on Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. with their fourth benefit concert in support of Greenagers, a local nonprofit serving area youth with paid outdoor jobs and education programs.    Held on the scenic grounds of April Hill at 62 Undermountain Road, proceeds support Greenagers' programs that empower youth while caring for the land and community.   Concert guests are invited to arrive early with their own meal; complementary beverages will be available.   All ticket purchases support Greenagers' mission.   Tickets are $1,000 (Sustainers; $960 tax-deductible) or $500 (Trailblazers, $480

Millers, Tunnel City Freight Claim BABL Titles

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Brian Rodriguez Sunday struck out eight hitters in four innings to lead the G.B. Millers to a 3-1 win and a 2-0 championship series sweep over the Berkshire Thunder in the 20-and-over division of the Berkshire Adult Baseball League.   The Millers opened the series on Saturday with a 4-1 win over the Thunder at Memorial Field in Great Barrington.   In the league's 33-and-over division, Tunnel City Freight swept the Dalton Moneymakers over the weekend by scores of 15-5 and 14-2.   In the deciding game on Sunday at Joe Wolfe Field, Nolan Brassard went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBIs to lead a 10-hit attack for Tunnel City.   Jonathan

Man Drowned at Camp Halfmoon

MONTEREY, Mass. — On Aug. 10, Miguel Rodriguez Perez, a 21 year old Mexican national, drowned in Lake Buel.    According to the District Attorney's Office, Perez, an employee in the Camp Halfmoon kitchen, and two coworkers were swimming in the Camp Halfmoon swimming area of Lake Buel. While swimming from an inflatable water structure to the dock, Perez slipped below the surface about halfway into the swim. The distance between the inflatable to the dock is approximately 20 to 25 feet. The area where he slipped below the surface is approximately 6 to 8 feet deep.     The two men swimming with him were unable to locate him. Perez was found approximately 10

MassDOT: South County Overnight and Daytime Construction on I-90

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass.—The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing it will be performing overnight and daytime paving and bridge repair operations on I-90 eastbound and westbound in the towns of West Stockbridge, Stockbridge, Montgomery, and Russell.

All work is weather dependent and will take place at the following locations and times: 

West Stockbridge/Stockbridge:

Paving operations will be conducted on I-90 eastbound from mile marker 0.5 to mile marker 5.5 nightly from Monday night, August 11, through Thursday night, August 14, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., ending Friday morning, August 15.

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Well Restaurant and Bar recently reopened under new management.

Four friends who have worked together previously decided to buy Main Street eatery a month ago to keep open a local hotspot.

"We all knew we all worked together. And this came up, and we just knew it was meant for us to take over, and we knew we could do a great job of it. We knew we could just keep it the neighborhood place," said co-owner Lisa Ake.

West Stockbridge Celebrates Zucchini Fest on Saturday

WEST STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — The annual Zucchini Fest returns to the downtown this Saturday from 10 to 10.   Depot and Center streets will host booths of vendors, artists and crafters, and a local food court from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.   There will also be a pet parade and "Handcrafted Zuke Games," including a Zucchini Weigh-Off and a zucchini decorating contest. PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Westside Legends will host its fourth annual Westside Sweet G Super Soap Box Derby on Saturday, Aug. 9, from noon to 4 p.m. with a rain date of Aug. 10.    Check-in for racers starts at 11 a.m. at the corner of Columbus Avenue and Robbins Avenue.   The event features a day of activities for the whole family.   There will be three race classes: kids from 6-12, kids from 13-17, and an adult class, ages 18 and older. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Healey-Driscoll administration and Massachusetts Technology Collaborative's (MassTech) Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI) awarded $31,548,018 to four internet service providers (ISPs) to increase internet access for affordable and public housing residents statewide.    Aervivo Inc. was awarded $10,527,014 for 6,402 housing units. Berkshire Botanical Garden Annual Grow Show

Jacob's Pillow 2025 Festival Canceled

BECKET, Mass. — Jacob's Pillow has canceled its 2025 festival following the death of one of its production managers. 

"We have come to this difficult decision following the tragic accident on our campus on August 1. Ticket buyers affected by the cancellations will receive refunds," the venue posted to its Facebook page Tuesday evening. 

"For 93 years, Jacob's Pillow has been a haven for dance and a community dedicated to its creation, presentation, education, and preservation. We look forward to welcoming audiences back to our campus."
